We found this original pochoir, created by hand, while living in France.
In 1796, Jean Charles Pellerin set up the “Imagerie d’Epinal” and popularized printed images of everyday scenes. These pochoir (hand painted using templates) woodcuts of military subjects, Napoleonic history, storybook characters and other folk themes were widely distributed throughout the 19th century.
This print, sold unframed, is in good condition with a water stain at top right and small tear at bottom center - as shown in images.
